Whether you are getting married with a custom-designed secular or symbolic ceremony or a church wedding – the ceremony is the highlight of the wedding for many couples.
CEREMONY & CELEBRATION
Atmospheric interlude for the wedding ceremony, accompanying music for the reception (sparkling wine/coffee & cake), or background music for dinner.
What is the best way to express feelings? With music, of course – and that’s why it plays a big role on your wedding day! The right musical accompaniment influences the atmosphere and underscores the romantic and joyful mood at the wedding.
ABOUT US, PIANOCELLO:
Pianist and composer Irina Grebaus and cellist Sandi Toka Nova perform together as SwissDuo. Based in Switzerland, they create original arrangements of classical music, jazz, pop, rock and film melodies for weddings and events.
Live music creates atmosphere
A live piano and cello duo can accompany the entrance, key moments and recessional, as well as the reception afterwards. Choose experienced musicians whose repertoire suits the ceremony, and discuss any special song requests in advance.
Our Tip: Get a musical sample beforehand – live or via a demo recording. No one wants to be unpleasantly surprised on the most beautiful day of their life. Therefore, arrange a first meeting to discuss your musical preferences.
Hymns for the Church Wedding
For the song during the entrance, would you like the organ? Our pianist is also an organist! Together, choose songs for your wedding that she can accompany. If you prefer to bring your own musicians, please discuss this with your officiant. Many churches allow quiet pieces to be played through a sound system. For singing during the wedding ceremony, you can also rely on the church choir. Or perhaps a solo singer? Maybe there’s a vocal talent among your guests!
How many songs should you plan for the wedding ceremony? There’s no fixed rule: it depends on how your ceremony is structured and which musical contributions you prefer. Traditionally, a song is played for the entrance, after the wedding ceremony, and for the recessional. If you’re not planning live music, but rather a few recorded pieces, then someone should be appointed to ensure the songs are played at the correct times.
Pop Music for Singing Along
Let your guests actively participate in the ceremony: choose well-known songs that you can sing together with your guests. Select appropriate pieces with your officiant. Not all pop songs are welcome in church; however, quiet ballads usually are. A choir often encourages singing along naturally. A communal song is a wonderful conclusion to a touching ceremony.
Our Tip: Design a personalized church booklet with the song lyrics! Print not only the song lyrics but also readings and the order of the ceremony – this way, your guests will also have a keepsake of the event.
Surprise Performance by Guests
Are you invited to a wedding, can you sing well or play in a band, and would you like to surprise the happy couple with your performance? The couple will surely be delighted to receive such a personal wedding gift – it will certainly remain in their memory forever. However, please coordinate this beforehand with someone who has an overview of the wedding schedule, such as the parents of the bride or groom, or one of the witnesses. Additionally, on the wedding day, you should discuss with the person responsible for the music when you would like to use the equipment and what exactly needs to be noted – this way, nothing will stand in the way of your successful performance!
Music During the Wedding Celebration
No wedding is complete without dancing guests! After the ceremony, the musical accompaniment must continue at the venue. So, carefully consider how you want to create the right atmosphere for your celebration; after all, you want to celebrate your wedding with your loved ones for as long as possible. Should it be a live band or a DJ to get everyone dancing? Remember that there should be something for every taste, so no one leaves in a bad mood. Ask your acquaintances if they know someone who plays music at weddings and truly understands their craft.
